You can never have too many of these 44 x 44 x 44 cm boxes. Whether stacked in a tower as in our example, alongside one another as a sideboard or individually, e.g. as a side table, the possible uses are almost limitless.
Assembly is also incredibly simple, with the boards simply joined with UHU Wood Glue and screwed once cut to size, as shown in the documentation below.
Material and resources
If the boards have not already been cut to size upon purchase, you can cut them using a hand-held circular saw and guide rails.
Mark the measurement...
... position the rails and cut.
Use a jigsaw to cut the corner reinforcement.
Tip: Sand all surfaces and edges in preparation for subsequent surface treatment prior to assembly
Mark the board thickness for assembly and drill screw holes on all boards.
... applying the glue in a wavy line so that it is distributed across the entire surface.
Apply the remaining side and screw everything together
In order that the inward-facing rear panel can be attached, triangles are glued on using UHU Wood Glue, which simultaneously reinforce the carcass. Important: take the thickness of the back panel into account when glueing the triangle.
Apply UHU Wood Glue tot he triangles, insert the rear panel and secure with clamps until the glue dries.
If the individual boards have not yet been sanded down, do so prior to applying the surface finish. Our boxes have been given a coat of Coloröl (manufactured by PNZ) in petrol blue and sealed with clear varnish.
In order to mount the legs, drill through the base of the bottom box and attach the legs with suitable hexagonal threaded screws.
The spacers between the boxes are custom-made pieces of plastic piping that have been finished with a texture-effect paint (manufactured by Dupli-Color). In order that the boxes can be mounted one on top of the other, the pieces of piping have internal fixtures made from round pieces of wood.
Place the boxes on top of one another with the spacers, align and...
.. screw together through the round pieces of wood.
