Whether for breakfast in bed or as a shelf for alongside your favourite spot, this DIY idea is always by your side, as its four castors ensure the necessary mobility. If the boards are already cut when you buy them, assembly is so simple, as evident in the steps below.
Material and resources
The following are required:
- Multiplex boards, cut to length
- UHU Wood Glue
- Express Screws
- Castors (see materials)
Prior to assembly, sand down the surfaces of the cut boards with medium to fine-grain sandpaper, thus softening the edges.
Tip: If the surfaces become especially smooth, rub them over with a damp cloth after fine sanding so that the fibres stand up and then smooth once again with fine sandpaper.
To prevent the wood from splitting, pre-drill all screw holes or use self-tapping wood screws. The top and base are pre-drilled and doubled up side panel.
Press the edges of the top and the base against the side panel and...
... screw these together.
... press this against the base plate.
To make the table mobile, each corner features a castor, which is screwed on in keeping with the colour design. Tip for purchasing castors: Soft castors (e.g. rubber) for hard floors (e.g. wood), hard castors (e.g. wood) for soft floors (e.g. carpet)
Finally, all wood boards are rubbed down once more with sand paper and a surface treatment applied. In this case with non-toxic, coloured oil in poppy red by PNZ.
