The proper preparation.
Basics of a solid bond.
| Clean any dirt, rust, remains of paint and any other extraneous materials from the surfaces. | |
| Roughen the surfaces by abrasion. | |
| Thoroughly remove any grease from the surfaces, using acetone, alcohol or white spirit. | |
| Let surfaces dry. | |
| Do not touch prepared surfaces, to avoid the transfer of skin oils. | |
| Apply the adhesive in a thin, even layer (when using contact adhesives, observe open time). | |
| Keep dirt and dust away from the surfaces to which the adhesive has just been applied. | |
| Stop any grinding work until the parts have been assembled. |
